SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS

Thank you for your interest in contracting interpreting assignments through DEAFLUENT. Our elite interpreting team is continuously expanding. We are currently seeking reliable freelance interpreters who take pride providing outstanding communication access, building meaningful connections, and offering exceptional customer service with a personal touch. Our clientele is highly diverse, with assignments available in a wide variety of settings and specialties. DEAFLUENT interpreters are ambitious, accommodating, and always prepared! 

 

In an effort to consistently provide high quality ethical sign language interpreting services, DEAFLUENT strongly endorses the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct. We are committed to serving the diverse needs of Deaf consumers, and we strive to work with other professionals who adhere to Principles and Tenets within this Code of Conduct.

DEAFLUENT BIPOC INTERPRETER MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

As a certified Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise, DEAFLUENT has had the privilege of partnering with a number of diversity and inclusion-focused organizations over the years. We are proud that our ever-expanding roster of more than 200 interpreters can meet the various preferences of Deaf consumers. 

 

Black Lives Matter, Indigenous Lives Matter, Latinx Lives Matter. Our agency works with so many people who have intersecting marginalized identities. We stand firmly as allies, and we want to be part of the change. 

 

The communities we serve are extremely diverse, but the unfortunate truth is that the interpreting field does not reflect this diversity – even here in New York City. 

 

Our agency is committed to doing the work within our own industry by actively addressing the diversity gap among interpreters right here in NYC. We are currently developing a mentorship program for Black and POC identifying peoples who are novice interpreters, which we expect to roll out in Spring 2021.

 

We look forward to this exciting opportunity to support the success of new Black and POC interpreters in the field, and to better meet the linguistic and cultural needs of those with hearing loss.

 

Over the past few years, we have been actively expanding the diversity of our interpreter team and we are always looking to hire new interpreters from different racial, ethnic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
